"Changing the face of back treatment, Dorn Spinal Therapy is gentle, safe and probably one of the most effective treatments available. Dorn has over 30 years of history and is growing in popularity throughout the world...."
The Dorn Method is gentle, effective and safe way to correct misalignments of the Spinal Column and other joints, helping relieve back pain, headaches, hip, sciatica, jaw, knee, shoulder and many more problem areas. It is a true self help treatment free of unpleasant side effects and completely safe.
The Forn Method consists of a range of simple exercises and techniques which aims to help joints and vertebrae slip back into their natural positions. In addition, a very gentle Bruess Spinal Massage is given to safely stretch, align, energize and relax the spine. This method of massage uses a specially prepared oil containing hypericum (St Johns Wort), flowers which is absorbed through the skin into the region of the vertebra, where it helps replenish and regenerate damaged volume discs. Hypericum in homoeopathy is known for its healing properties in relation to nerve fibres. This massage releases mental and physical tension.
After your Dorn Spinal therapy and Breuss Spinal Massage you will feel deeply relaxed, invigorated....and taller.
A range of simple after care exercises will also be provided for you to take away and practise in order to help you benefit in the long term. For example, you will be shown a simple but effective short exercise to perform each day to help your hip and lower back in place.
Dorn History
The origins of this therapy are ‘shrouded in the mists of time’, but the current transmission comes to us via a German farmer called Dieter Dorn.
One day while working on his farm, Dieter ‘put his back out’. Visiting his local doctor he was told he had slipped a disc, and was given painkillers and told to rest. But Dieter was not only a farmer, he also operated a sawmill – so rest was not something that came easily to him and after a few days with no apparent relief he started the rounds of all the other therapist in his town trying to get his back fixed.
There was some easing of symptoms, but no cure, and he was still in great pain. The one option left was an old man living a reclusive life in the mountains who had a reputation as a ‘bone fixer’ but could only be reached after a long hike on foot.
Even though Dieter was still in great pain he did visit the old healer for a treatment – which left him pain-free and mobile again. Intrigued by the effectiveness of the simple procedure, Dieter was enthusiastic to learn more about it, and began regular visits to the ‘bone fixer’ for instruction.
It was lucky he did, because shortly thereafter the old man died. Dieter Dorn had no medical knowledge and so embarked on a period of self-education and learnt the relationships between the spine and bodily functions. When confident in his knowledge he treated his wife, who had suffered migraines for many years. As with his own treatment, the effects on his wife were rapid, within hours the headache ceased, never to return.
Word quickly spread and Dieter became a “bone fixer” in his own right. He carried on farming but over a period exceeding 30 years he has treated thousands of sufferers and trained hundreds of therapists to carry on the work.
There is as yet only a limited number of therapists in Australia but that number is growing rapidly due to the gentle effectiveness of this form of treatment.
